Updated rules for the race 2017 have been posted here. We reserve the right to make any changes. Last changes have been made August 13th 2016 in 2.2, 3.5, 4.13 and DUO is left out, there will be no DUO class in 2017.
There are some changes from earlier years. Most important mandatory intranasal kennel cough vaccination, changes concerning mandatory equipment, definition of a sledge and the use of ski poles. The intranasal kennel cough vaccination will require a pause from training for the dogs. If you're planning to race the Femund race in 2017 and not set this vaccine yet we would advice you to do so as soon as possible. Any way the vaccine can not be set later than six weeks before start, for 2017 this means December 30th 2016.
Also for 2017 a pre-race vet check is mandatory. The participants must arrange this with their own veterinary before check-in at Røros. More information about this and other specific requirements from the new vet Arild M. Jøssund will be posted on the vet site soon.
Femundløpet will focus more on the juniors during the upcoming Femundløp.
The German production company Jung-Rathjen visits Røros this week doing research in preparation for a documentary where they will follow a junior musher before and during the race. The documentary will be broadcasted both on German and French TV. NDR and ARTE TV have bought the rights of production. If all goes according to plan the film will be broadcasted in april.
